Figure-hugging staples have been popular in clothing stores since the early 2000s. The highly flattering form that tight-fitting clothes provide on the body, particularly on the thighs, legs, and waist, is one of the many reasons why people wear skinny jeans.
1. They aren’t comfortable
Skinny jeans that are far too tight on the legs and hips can be restrictive around the groin area. Oftentimes, tight-fitting clothes always lead to uncomfortable experiences, so whenever you’re feeling off down there, revert back to looser fitting trousers.
2. They lack functionality
Originally, jeans were made as workwear for miners. They were made for them to squat down, move easily, and experience freedom of movement when they’re working or panning for gold.
In skinny jeans, doing those things can be difficult. Once you bend over, you’re not just exposing your backside area. The fabric continues to stretch and constrict your legs with your every move, giving you little or none freedom of movement.
3. The pockets aren’t useful
Due to their tight fabric, slipping that phone in and getting it out can be difficult. Putting wallets would also feel like you have a bump in your hips.
If your skinny jeans don’t provide that basic functionality of being able to carry something and pulling them out with an easy access, are they even worth wearing?
4. They only suit a specific body type
According to GQ Magazine, “skinny jeans really only work when they’re worn by improbably skinny people.” That being said, skinny jeans don’t suit all men’s body types.
If you’re muscular, big, or heavy, squeezing your legs into a pair of skinny jeans won’t lead to a promising look. The tight design just won’t compliment every body type.
5. They cause health problems
It’s never worth it to put style before your own health. A medical article reported that wearing tight-fitting clothing, like skinny jeans, over a period of time can lead to major health issues, which include:
- Urinary tract infections
- Lower sperm count
- Fungal infections
- Twisted testicles
- Bladder weakness
- Groin discomfort
“With this survey we were keen to highlight that while men may like the look of tight-fitting jeans, it’s important that they are not compromising their health. Wearing skinny or ill-fitting jeans can lead to bladder weakness as a longer-term consequence,” the article read, urging men not to put style before health.
